Institute of Engineering, located in Lalitpur, one of the historic cities of the country, is the pioneer institution in the field of engineering education in Nepal. IOE, today comprises of four colleges, including two regional colleges in the eastern and western region of the country. IOE offers intermediate, undergraduate and graduate courses in 7 different fields of engineering.

Central campus of IOE at Pulchowk, Lalitpur spans over 50 acres of land consisting of 7 main blocks and several others including boy's and girl's hostel, staff and teachers housings. The administrative block (Ananda Niketan) of IOE has some historic importance as well.
